No. 22 Baseball Splits Twinbill With No. 5 North Greenville

PEMBROKE – Conference Carolinas-leading and fifth-ranked North Greenville tacked up 15 hits and scored 10 times to post a weekend-clinching 10-2 victory in the front half of a Saturday twinbill at Sammy Cox Field, but the 22nd-ranked UNC Pembroke baseball team amassed 12 hits and capitalized on six errors to fend off a series sweep with a 7-5 victory in the nightcap.
 
The game-one setback handed UNCP (23-10, 14-4 CC) its first league series loss of the season, but the Braves rebounded by picking up their first win over a top 5-ranked team since taking the bookends of a home series with then-No. 3 Columbus State, March 8-10, 2019. The result also snapped an 11-game win streak for North Greenville (29-6, 17-4).

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
TOP 1 Ethan Stringer's one-out single up the middle got a scoring chance started for the visitors, and North Greenville took a lead it would not relinquish two batters later on a two-run blast from Marek Chlup.
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 4 The Braves sent their entire batting order to the plate in a 5-run fourth inning, and got the help of four errors to keep the frame chugging along. The first five batters of the inning all reached base safely, but the first error of the frame actually gave the hosts the lead for good. The Braves got run-scoring hits from Spencer Faulkner and Bobby Dixon, and plated additional runs on errors as well.
