PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball player Zaria Clark and men's indoor track & field athlete Delsin Burkhart have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending in Jan. 29, 2023.
 
A native of Stanley, Clark started in all three contests to help the Braves to a 3-0 week in Conference Carolinas play. The sophomore averaged 12.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field. Clark started the week with 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, along with a block and a steal in a road victory at Erskine. She closed out the week logging 10 points, six rebounds, and a trio of assists against Mount Olive, along with 12 points and five rebounds against King.
 
A redshirt junior, Burkhart claimed top honors in the 1000-meter Run and placed seventh in the Mile Run at the Winter Classic over the weekend. The Fayetteville native shattered a 44-year-old school record in the 1000-meter Run while also recording personal-best times in both events. Burkhart, who ran the opening leg of the 4x800-meter Relay team at the COROS Collegiate Challenge, has now registered school records in consecutive weekends, as the relay squad established a school record at the meet on Jan. 22.
