DAHLONEGA, GA. – Redshirt junior Jack Phieffer finished fifth on the men's side to propel the Braves to a second place team finish in the 8K, while junior Jackline Kosgei crossed in seventh in the women's race to help lead the Black & Gold to a fourth place finish in the 5K at Friday night's UNG Invitational.
 
Phieffer crossed at 25:44.5 to lead the men's squad, with redshirt senior Delsin Burkhart finishing 18^th at 26:48.4. Sophomore Norman Junker (27:18.0) and redshirt senior Hunter Levy (27:23.5) finished back-to-back at 23^rd and 24^th, respectively. Sophomore Elisha Kipsang (27:35.3) finished 27^th with freshman Will Clancey (27:54.6) behind him in 33^rd. Redshirt junior Bryan Viera placed 38^th at 28:11.3, while redshirt sophomore Christian Whiteside finished 66^th at 29:54.3. Junior Gabe Blackwelder (31:39.5) finished 76^th and junior Lucas Nervo (38:13.0) finished 88^th to round out the men's side.
 
Kosgei took seventh on the women's side, finishing at 18:25.3, while freshman Michela Gritti took 23rd in her collegiate debut with a 19:37.9. Freshman Malea Bennewitz (20:32.8) crossed in 32^nd, with sophomore Karen Piro (21:17.8) behind her in 37^th. Junior Jaqueeta Moise finished 50^th at 22:55.1, senior Jazmine Lorenzo came in at 54^th with a 23:38.7, while freshman Mariah Spencer finished 56^th at 23:46.2 to round out the Black & Gold on the women's side.
 
UNCP will be back in action on September 30 for the Koala Invite at the Par Tee Golf Center in Columbia, S.C. Start times have not been announced yet.
