GREENVILLE, S.C. - After helping the UNC Pembroke softball team to a 6-1 week, Alona Hanna has been named as the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week presented by Athletic Solutions, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.  

The announcement marks the first weekly award of the season for Hanna.

A native of Lumberton, Hanna went 12-for-22 from the plate last week and scored 14 runs. The sophomore finished the week with three doubles, two triples and three home runs. Hanna drove in eight runs as well.

Hanna leads the Braves batting .489 with four home runs and five triples. She leads Conference Carolinas with 24 runs scored.
