Women’s Hoops To Play Ferrum In Opening Round Of Conference Tournament

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke women's basketball team will face Ferrum on Sunday in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. inside Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk. 
 
Fans unable to make the trip to Banner Elk can follow the game for free via a live statistics provided by Lees-McRae. New this season, all Conference Carolinas Tournament games will be pay per view on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network. Fans can purchase a tournament pass to watch all games for $25 or purchase a daily pass for $10.

Series Notes
Sunday marks just the third time that the two teams have met. Ferrum defeated UNC Pembroke 58-53 in the last meeting on Feb. 11 in Ferrum. The Braves defeated the Panthers 63-58 in the first meeting of the season.

UNC Pembroke
  • UNC Pembroke is looking to snap a three-game skid following a 78-56 setback against Chowan on Wednesday in the regular season finale. The Hawks scored 52 points inside the paint and added 20 points from 16 UNCP turnovers. 
  • The Braves are averaging 62.3 points per game and are shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. Opponents average 65.7 points per contest while shooting 41.7 percent from the field. 
  • UNCP averages 16.3 turnovers per game and allow opponents to score 15.3 points from those turnovers. The Black & Gold tally 37.3 boards per game while opponents record 34.4 rebounds a game. 
  • Bre'Asia Washington has seen action in all 27 games and leads UNC Pembroke averaging 12.2 points per game. The junior is shooting 46.9 percent from the floor and has scored in every game this season. 
Ferrum
  • Ferrum has lost its last three games including a 73-67 setback against Mount Olive in the regular season finale on Wednesday. Mount Olive shot 47.2 percent from the field and scored 14 points from 14 Panther turnovers. UMO also went 17-for-20 from the free throw line. 
  • FC averages 60.1 points per game and is shooting 40.0 percent from the field. Opponents are averaging 63.0 points per contest and are shooting 37.5 percent from the floor. 
  • Ferrum commits 20.7 turnovers a game and allows its opponents to score 18.8 points from those turnovers.
  • Breyana Kimmons has seen action in all 28 games and leas the Panthers averaging 11.0 points per game. The freshman has scored in double figures in 16 games and is coming off of a 15 point showing against Mount Olive on Wednesday.
