GREENVILLE, S.C. – After playing a key role in helping the UNC Pembroke football team to a 31-24 victory at Shorter, Malik Brown has been named as the Conference Carolinas Special Teams Player of the Week presented by Athletic Solutions, league officials announced Monday afternoon. 

A native of Tampa, Fla., Brown returned four kickoffs for 215 yards. The junior started the game by running the opening kickoff back for an 88-yard touchdown to give the Black & Gold an early lead. Brown also returned a 91-yard kickoff return in the third quarter for a touchdown to cushion the UNCP lead. 

Brown becomes the first player in the history of the program to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a single game.
