LANCASTER, Pa.  – Good news continued for Malik Brown when the sophomore was named as the D2Football.com Special Teams Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.

Brown becomes the first D2Football.com Player of the Week honoree since quarterback Colin Johnson earned the recognition during the 2024 season. However, Brown is the first special teams player of the week by the organization since Matt Davis picked up the nod twice during the 2016 season. 

A native of Tampa, Fla., Brown returned four kickoffs for 215 yards. The junior started the game by running the opening kickoff back for an 88-yard touchdown to give the Black & Gold an early lead. Brown also returned a 91-yard kickoff return in the third quarter for a touchdown to cushion the UNCP lead. 

Brown becomes the first player in the history of the program to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a single game.
