RALEIGH – Jonathan Miller registered a quartet of victories on the way to a runner-up finish in the 141-pound tournament, while all-American
Nick Daggett rebounded from a tough loss in the 125-pound semifinals with a bonus-point victory in the third place match, to highlight action for the UNC Pembroke wrestling team on Sunday afternoon at the NC State-hosted Wolfpack Open.
Miller ousted a pair of NCAA Division I foes on his way through the 141-pound bracket, including a first-period pin of NC State's Jamel Morris in the semifinal round, but had his day stuffed via an 8-3 loss in the championship match against the Wolfpack's Jamal Morris.
Daggett captured his first three matches of the day before falling on the wrong end of a major decision in his semifinal bout with NC State's Jakob Camacho. He raked in third place laurels, however, with a 16-7 major decision over Newberry's Austin Neal.
The Braves will be back in action again on Tuesday when they make the short trip to Hartsville, S.C., to battle Coker in a 7 p.m. dual meet inside the DeLoach Center.
