LAKELAND, Fla. – Sophomore Katy Flax carded a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round, and then followed it up with a 5-over-par 77 in the second round, to settle into the top 25 after the opening day of the Florida Southern-hosted Lady Moc Classic on the par-72, 6,085-yard Grasslands Golf & Country Club.
 
The UNC Pembroke golf team (314-304/618) sits in ninth among some of the best NCAA Division II golf teams heading into Tuesday's final round in central Florida. Second-ranked Nova Southeastern sits two strokes ahead of the rest of the 17-team field after two rounds. Nine Top 25 teams are competing in the event, including five that are ranked inside the top 10.
 
Flax (74-77/151) is among a six-way tie for 20^th place heading into Tuesday, Megan Munroe (82-73/155) is tied for 34^th and both Madison Corley (80-77/157) and Alexandria Bare (80-77/157) are among an eight-way tie for 44^th place. Savannah Thompson (80-88/168) is 80^th after day one.
 
Final round action at the Lady Moc Classic will get underway on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
