WINDERMERE, Fla. – Freshman
Maddy Corley carded a 3-under par 69 in the opening round, and then followed it up with a 3-over par 75 in the second round, to wrap up day one in the sixth spot at the Rollins-hosted Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational on the par-72, 6,038-yard Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe course.
The UNC Pembroke golf team (308-298/606) shaved off 10 strokes from its first round score to card its lowest round of the season in round two. In a field consisting of eight of the top 25 teams in the nation, including three of the top five, No. 1 Nova Southeastern (290-288/578) and No. 4 Dallas Baptist (290-288/578) are tied atop the 17-team field after 36 holes.
Corley (69-75/144) is among a four-way tie for sixth in the 100-player field, while
Katy Flax (79-73/152) shares 39th with three others heading into Tuesday.
Alexandria Bare (76-78/154) is tied for 46th,
Megan Munroe (85-72/157) is among a six-way tie for 55th and
Casey Burroughs (84-78/162) is tied for 79th.
The third and final round at the Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational will get underway Tuesday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
