WINDERMERE, Fla. – Sophomores
Megan Munroe and
Katy Flax each carded a 3-over par 75 in the final round of the Rollins-hosted Peggy Kirk Bel Memorial Invitational to lead the UNC Pembroke golf team to a tie for seventh on the par-72, 6,038-yard Golden Bear Club at Keene's Pointe course in central Florida.
Munroe (85-72-75/232) shot up seven spots on the individual leaderboard to settle into a tie for 47th, while Flax (79-73-75/227) ascended six spots into a tie for 33rd in the 100-player field. Freshman
Maddy Corley (69-75-77/221) finished in a three-way tie for 14th to log her fourth top-20 finish of the season, while
Alexandria Bare (76-78-80/234) tied for 54th and
Casey Burroughs (84-78-80/242) grabbed a share of 78th.
The Braves carded a 307 in Tuesday's final round to share seventh with Lee, while top-ranked Nova Southeastern edged out fourth-ranked Dallas Baptist by one stroke to claim the team title in a field consisting of eight of the top 25 and three of the top five teams in the nation.
UNCP continues its spring portion of the schedule March 26-27 when it hosts the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic at the River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, North Carolina. The Black & Gold won the event last year and Flax claimed the individual title in the 54-hole tournament.
