April 21, 2019

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Senior Alexandria Bare, freshman Parker Melting and junior Katy Flax all walked away with top-10 finishes on the individual leaderboard to lead the UNC Pembroke golf team to a runner-up finish at the Peach Belt Conference Championships for the second-straight year on Sunday.

Bare (+15) shot a 5-over-par 77 in all three rounds and finished fifth among the field of 30 – the fourth time this season that the two-time all-conference standout has concluded an event inside the top-5. Melting (+16) carded a 2-over-par 74 on Sunday to finish sixth, while Flax turned in a 6-over-par 78 in the final round to finish in a four-way tie for seventh place. Freshman Amanda Hamrin (+22) shared 12th place with two other players after shooting a 79 on Sunday, while junior Casey Burroughs (+31) walked away with a share of 22nd place.

The Black & Gold (+70) combined to post an impressive 308 in Sunday's final round, but finished 11-strokes off the pace of host-Flagker (+59) who captured the league crown for the third-straight season. Columbus State's Victoria Libaak (+9) edged out two other players by a single stroke to capture individual medalist honors.

Bare and Libaak joined Hannah Walker (Young Harris), Kim Jakobs (Flagler) and Pauline Tainton on the all-tournament team.
