Three Volleyball Players Garner NCCSIA All-State Honors

WILMINGTON – Three UNC Pembroke volleyball players added additional honors to their stable of collegiate awards on Tuesday morning when middle blocker Brianna Warren, outside hitter Shannon Skryd and setter Katie Pressley all grabbed a spot on the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Team.
 
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
 
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
 
An all-region selection by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) in December, Warren ranked second among league leaders with a .353 hitting percentage to go along with 307 kills (9th Conference Carolinas), and led the 13-team league with 124 blocks (1.06/set) as well. The Indian Trail native also posted 404.5 points (4th) across 117 sets, while also logging 85 digs, 16 service aces and seven assists.
 
Skryd hit a career-best .230 at the net this season while also logging a team-best 344 kills (2.92/set) and 426 digs (3.61). The Naperville, Ill., product ranked seventh among league leaders with 43 service aces in 2021, and 11th among conference leaders with her dig total. A Conference Carolinas Player of the Week pick in early October, Skryd registered 10 or more kills on 20 occasions this season, and logged 17 double-double outings as well.
 
A product of Indian Trail, Pressley totaled 1,027 assists in 2021 and ranked second among conference leaders with 9.78 assists per set. The everyday starter at setter, she also amassed 266 digs (2.38/set) and 69 kills (0.66), while also ranking 14th among league leaders with 38 service aces as well. Pressley turned in 30 or more assists in 22 matches this season, including a career-best 53 assists in the 5-set win over Mount Olive on October 23. A three-time league specialist of the week pick, she was also named the conference's freshman player of the month in October as well.
