Golf Gets Official Invite To NCAA Postseason

April 27, 2022

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three weeks removed from a dominating showing at the Conference Carolinas Championships that came with the league's automatic berth into the NCAA postseason, the NCAA made it official on Monday when the Braves were announced as one of a dozen teams that will compete at the NCAA South Regional next week.

The postseason berth will mark the first team appearance for the program since the Black & Gold logged a ninth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Super Region 2 event. The program has been represented in six previous NCAA Tournaments, including team appearances in 2011 and 2012.

Former all-American Meghan Moore competed in three-straight NCAA Regionals, finishing second at the 2012 regional event, before finishing one stroke off the lead at the national championships that season as well. In all, a total of 12 teams and six individuals have been selected to participate in the NCAA South Regional.

Fourth-ranked Nova Southeastern will serve as host of the 54-hole tournament, set to be held at Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Fla., from May 2-4. The top five teams, along with the top two individuals on a non-advancing team, will qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships, May 10-14, at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga.

Nova Southeastern will be joined by fellow Sunshine State Conference members No. 2 Lynn, No. 6 Barry, No. 7 Rollins, No. 15 Tampa and and No. 16 Saint Leo at the Grande Oaks Golf Club next week. Fifth-ranked Anderson earned the automatic bid as champions of the South Atlantic Conference, while No. 6 Barry (Sunshine State Conference), No. 17 Columbus State (Peach Belt Conference), UNC Pembroke (Conference Carolinas) and West Florida (Gulf South Conference) captured the remaining automatic berths from their respective leagues.

The Braves placed all five of its competitors inside the top 10 at the Conference Carolinas Championships earlier this month, including Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Year Georgia Page who out-paced the rest of the 50-woman field by two strokes. First-year head coach Hannah Luckett also staked claim to Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year accolades as well.
