GREENVILLE, S.C. – Newcomer Samantha Allred has been named as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month after playing a key role for the UNC Pembroke softball team in March, league officials announced Friday. 
 
Allred appeared in all 14 contests, 13 of which were starts at the designated player position. The freshman posted a .368 batting average and a .632 slugging percentage, while also recording 14 hits, 10 runs scored and 12 RBI in 38 at bats. 
 
Allred hit four doubles and a pair of homers during the month, while also drawing eight walks. She closed out the month with an impressive 5-for-8 outing at the plate in the doubleheader against Chowan with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBI. She also scored two runs during the twinbill.
