PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimmings Benedetta Pepe Pugliese and football's Trey Dixon have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on October 1, 2023. 
  
A native of Avellino, Italy, Pepe Pugliese registered four top finishes at the King Invitational and took home a second-place finish as well. The newcomer won the 200-yard Individual Medley, 400-yard Individual Medley, 200-yard Breaststroke, and swam the opening leg of the 400-yard Medley Relay team. Pepe Pugliese shattered school records in the 200-yard Individual Medley as well as the 200-yard Breaststroke, while recording NCAA B standard times in the 200-yard Breaststroke and 400-yard Individual Medley.  
 
Dixon finished Saturday's game with a total of 240 receiving yards and caught four touchdown passes. The Gibson native's performance was highlighted by a 75-yard touchdown catch. Dixon broke the school record for most receiving touchdowns in single game, as well as most receiving yards in a single game.
