Football Hosts Barton For American Indian Heritage Day

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke football team will play its final regular season game on Saturday when they Braves host Barton for American Indian Heritage Day presented by the Town of Pembroke. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Grace P. Johnson Stadium.

The Braves (7-2, 4-1 CC) head into Saturday's contest following a dominating 42-10 victory at Chowan. The Bulldogs (2-6, 2-2 CC) had their two-game win streak snapped on Saturday with a 33-7 setback against Shorter. 

The Black & Gold look to remain perfect on the season when playing at home.  UNC Pembroke is averaging 32.67 points per game and holding opponents to 16.33 points per game. Barton averages just 16.50 points per game while opponents score 34.38 points per game.

WHAT TO KNOW
Braves Club Hospitality: The Braves Club hospitality tent will be located inside the stadium, giving members exclusive access to view pregame warmups while enjoying conversation, food, and drinks. The hospitality tent will open 30 minutes prior to kickoff and remain open throughout the whole game for guests.
 
Parking: Parking in Lot 14 (across from Grace P. Johnson Stadium) is available for $5 for students, and $5 for the general public. Ushers will be available at both entrances to collect payment, as well as answer questions. Space in the parking lots adjacent to the stadium and Caton Fieldhouse are open to passholders only. Fans attending the 2 p.m. volleyball match against Erskine who wish to park in the Jones Parking lot will be required to pay $5. 
 
Tailgating: Fans may tailgate beginning at 10:30 a.m. Complete tailgating policies can be accessed by visiting this page.


Clear Bag Policy: Fans entering Grace P. Johnson Stadium will be asked to have a clear bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12". All bags are subject to be searched upon entry. 

Ticket Deal: All current tribal card holders who present their tribal card at the gate can receive a general admission ticket for $5. 
 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
American Indian Heritage Day Celebration: UNCP will celebrate its American Indian heritage with the display of several tribal regalia, including performances by tribal dancers and drummers in full Lumbee Tribe regalia. There will also be American Indian vendors setup on the concourse of the stadium.

Senior Day: The UNC Pembroke football team will honor their senior class prior to the start of Saturday's game. 

POW/MIA Commemorative Chair: A Seat of Honor near the main entrance to Grace P. Johnson Stadium was unveiled earlier this season to commemorate American service men and women who were prisoners of war or are missing in action (POW/MIA). The seat was made possible by the generous support of Braves Club member, the late Mr. Adolphus Lee Turner and the Triple Nickle Society.


Commemorative Shirts: Commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Spirit Shop inside the stadium for $25. 

Coin Toss: Tribal Chairman John L. Lowery, will join the team captains for the coin toss.  

National Anthem: 2025 Senior Ms. Lumbee, Wendy Chavis Locklear, will sing the National Anthem. 


Postgame Fireworks: Be sure to stick around after the game for postgame fireworks presented by Farm Bureau. 
 
LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO BEFORE THE GAME?
The UNC Pembroke soccer team will host Barton for the final regular season contest with a 1 p.m. start. The Braves will honor their senior class prior to the start of the game at LREMC Stadium. 

The UNC Pembroke volleyball team will host Erskine on Saturday. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. Fans attending the volleyball match against Erskine who wish to park in the Jones Parking lot will be required to pay $5.
