ST. SIMON, Ga. -  Catherine DeSiena and Melissa Guerra Landa both carded an eight-over-par in the opening round of action at the St. Simons Intercollegiate to land the UNC Pembroke golf team in 16th place on Monday at the King and Prince Golf Resort. 

DeSiena (+8) and Guerra Landa (+8) are in a nine-way tie for 55th place and sit 11 strokes behind behind Sofia Terzoli of Flagler who leads the individual tournament with a three-under-par 69. Ella Reed (+11) is among a six-way tie for 72nd place after a first round of 83, while Lauren Locklear (+13) rounded out the scoring for the Braves in a three-way tie for 83rd place. 

Newcomer Taylor Black (+18) finished her first round for the Braves in a 94th place. 

The Braves will play the second round of the St. Simon Intercollegiate on Tuesday morning at the King and Prince Golf Resort.
