GREENVILLE, S.C. – Looking for build off of a strong showing in the fall, the UNC Pembroke golf team was picked to finish fifth with the release of the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches Poll, league officials announced Thursday. 

The Braves collected 69 votes to land in the fifth place spot. Erskine, who won the Conference Carolinas Championship last year, was selected as the league favorite with 11 first place votes and 121 total points, while Emmanuel picked up the last first-place vote and finished the poll with 110 points. Mount Olive rounded out the top three with 101 total points. 

Points were awarded on an 11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 scale and coaches are not permitted to vote for their own teams. 

The Braves will kick off the spring season on Feb. 23 at the Lenoir-Rhyne-host LR Dunes West Women's Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be played at the Dunes West Golf & River Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
