GREENVILLE, S.C. – After helping the UNC Pembroke men's basketball team extend its win streak out to six games, senior Nygell Verdier has been named as the Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week presented by Athletic Solutions, league officials announced Monday afternoon. 

A native of Charlotte, Verdier started in both games last week and averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Verdier shot 58.3 percent from the field and finished the week with three assists, two steals and one block. He started the week by nearly registering a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds against Converse in 31 minutes of work. Verdier closed out the week with a career-high 24 points at Mount Olive to go along with seven rebounds. 

Verdier is shooting 43.9 percent from the field this season and averaging 10.4 points per game. He has scored in double figures in six games this season.
