PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Natalie Evington and men's basketball's Nygell Verdier have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on January 25, 2026.

A native of Red Springs, Evington helped the Braves to a 2-0 week averaging 19.0 points per game and shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Evington's week was highlighted by a career-high 29 points at Mount Olive where she broke her own school record for most three-pointers in a single game. The nine triples also marks a Conference Carolinas best this season. 

A native of Charlotte, Verdier started in both contests last week and averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. The redshirt senior started the week with 16 points and nine rebounds against Converse on Monday and closed out the week with a career-high 24 points at Mount Olive on Wednesday. Verdier shot 58.3 percent from the field for the week as well.
