PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Shaymiah Bailey and wrestling's Avery Buonocore have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on December 7, 2025.

A native of Winston-Salem, Bailey shot 70 percent from the field and averaged 12.5 points per game. The freshman started the week with 10 points at Elizabeth City State and closed out the week with 15 points at Virginia Union. Bailey tallied nine rebounds, one assist and one steal for the week as well. 

Buonocore was perfect on the week going 4-0. A native of Wilmington, Buonocore logged a pair of pins and had two tech fall victories.
