Basketball Teams Head To Ferrum On Wednesday

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Ferrum on Wednesday for a Conference Carolinas divisional doubleheader. The women's team will get the action started at 5 p.m. inside Swartz Gymnasium with the men's game to follow at 7 p.m.

Fans unable to make the trip to Ferrum, Va., can follow the games for free via live statistics provided by Ferrum as well as a live video stream for free on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.

Wednesday will mark just the second time that the two teams have met. UNC Pembroke defeated Ferrum 63-58 in the first meeting earlier this season on Dec. 16 in Pembroke. Both teams shot 37 percent from the field, but UNCP had four players score in double figures. 
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
  • UNC Pembroke has won five out of its last six games including a 75-70 overtime thriller at Emmanuel on Saturday. The Braves shot 45.2 percent from the field and picked up 26 points from its bench. 
  • The Black & Gold are averaging 62.6 points per game and are shooting 40.7 percent from the field. Opponents are averaging 65.7 points per contest and are shooting 40.4 percent from the floor. 
  • The Braves have posted most rebounds over their opponents in the last six games. UNCP averages 37.8 boards per game while opponents average 36.2 rebounds per outing.
  • Bre'Asia Washington leads UNCP averaging 12.0 points per game and is shooting 47.4 percent from the field. The junior is coming off of a career-high 32 points at Emmanuel where she also recorded six assists. 
Scouting Report: Ferrum
  • Ferrum snapped a seven game losing streak with a 63-61 victory over Shorter on Saturday. The Panthers made a season-high 11 three-pointers during the game and shot 47.8 percent from the field.
  • FC is averaging 59.4 points per game and is shooting 38.9 percent from the field. However, opponents are averaging 62.8 points per contest and are shooting 37.2 percent from the floor.
  • Ferrum tallies 22.0 turnovers per outing and allow their opponents to score 19.6 points from those turnovers. The Panthers score 13.6 points from forcing their opponents into 17.4 turnovers per game. 
  • Breyana Kimmons is leading the Panthers with 10.2 points per game while shooting 34.6 percent from the field. The freshman finished Saturday's game with 15 points and made a trio of three pointers in 33 minutes of work.

  • UNC Pembroke has won its last nine games including an 80-77 victory at Emmanuel on Saturday. The Braves shot 51.0 percent from the field and outscored the Lions 42-24 with points in the paint. 
  • The Braves are averaging 79.7 points per game and are shooting 49.2 percent from the field. They are limiting opponents to 70.8 points per outing and 42.8-percent shooting.
  • UNCP has proven to be a force on the glass averaging 37.7 rebounds per game. The Black & Gold have logged more rebounds over their opponents in all 21 games this season, including posting a 36-16 advantage over Emmanuel on Saturday. 
  • Moe Bangura has started in all 21 games this season and is averaging 12.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. The senior is coming off of a 20-point outing at Emmanuel where he also pulled down seven rebounds. 
Scouting Report: Ferrum
  • Ferrum has won three out of its last four games including a 99-79 victory over Shorter on Saturday. The Panthers shot 57.1 percent from the field and matched a season-high with 15 three-pointers.
  • FC is 8-1 this season when playing at home and have not lost when playing in Swartz Gymnasium since an 84-71 setback to Chowan on Nov. 25. 
  • The Panthers average 81.9 points per game and are shooting 45.0 percent from the field. Opponents are shooting 45.9 percent from the floor and average 78.9 points per game. 
  • Gerren Jones has started in all 20 games and is averaging 22.9 points per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. The senior has scored in double figures in 19 games this season and is coming off of a 28-point showing against Shorter.
