Washington, Verdier Named Braves Of The Week

PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Bre'Asia Washington and men's basketball's Nygell Verdier have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on February 1, 2026.

A native of Lakeland, Fla., Washington helped the Braves erase a 24-point deficit on Wednesday at Barton with a career-high 31 points. The junior shot 41.6 percent from the field and went 11-for-15 from the free throw line. Washington added eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 39 minutes of work. 

A native of Charlotte, Verdier logged his first double-double of the season with a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds at Barton on Wednesday. The redshirt senior shot 56.2 percent from the floor and was 2-for-3 from the perimeter. Verdier dished out three assists and had one steal in 39 minutes of action.
