PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina Pembroke announced on Monday morning that volleyball's Abby Peduzzi and men's cross country's Ed Carney have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on September 6, 2026.

Peduzzi played started and played every point of the UNCP Invitational over the weekend. A native of Hilton Head, S.C., Peduzzi averaged 10.0 kills and 11.6 digs per match. She matched a career-high with four service aces against Middle Georgia State. 

Carney logged a top-15 at the USC Upstate Eye Opener to kick off the season. A native of Jersey, Channel Islands, Carney covered the 8K course in a time of 25:52.2 to take 13th place and was the top runner for the Black & Gold.
