Parks Picks Up Another All-America Honor

December 12, 2018

NEW YORK CITY – Redshirt sophomore Isaac Parks added another national postseason laurel to his already-impressive collegiate resume on Wednesday evening when the Greensboro native was among just two punters selected as part of the Associated Press (AP) Division II All-America Team, the organization announced.

With the announcement, Parks became just the sixth player in the history of the UNC Pembroke football program to earn all-America honors from multiple organizations in a single season. He became the 16th different player to earn all-America honors in the 12-year history of the program when he was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) squad last week.

Parks shattered UNCP's record for single-season punting average this season by registering 29 punts for 1,287 yards (44.38 yards/punt), including 16 kicks that went for 50 or more yards. He pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line on 21 occasions (41 percent of total punts), and a dozen of his kicks resulted in fair catches. Parks matched a school record against Newberry in late September when he pinned the Wolves inside the 20-yard line four times.

A two-year starter for the Braves, Parks has averaged 40.59 yards (2nd all-time) on 85 punts over the last two seasons in the Black & Gold, including 21 kicks that have gone for 50 or more yards. He has pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line on 45 percent of his punt attempts, with six others resulting in touchbacks. His 62-yard punt against Catawba as a freshman is the fourth-longest punt in program history.
