FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – The anticipation finally came to an end for UNC Pembroke defensive lineman
Domenique Davis late Saturday afternoon when the New York Jets offered a rookie contract to the undrafted free agent.
With the signing, Davis will now become the fourth player in the 14-year history of the program to participate in a National Football League (NFL) minicamp. Former long snapper Mike Yerry (2011-13) was invited to Tampa Bay Buccaneers camp in 2014, defensive lineman Mike Keck (2012-15) camped with the Buffalo Bills in 2016 and placekicker/punter
Matt Davis (2011-12, 14-15) worked out with the Green Bay Packers in 2017.
Davis, a Laurinburg native and Scotland High School product, finished his logged 122 tackles (51 solo) across his three-year career in the Black & Gold. He amassed 15.0 tackles for loss across that span, including six sacks, while also amassing 14 quarterback hurries and a pair of fumble recoveries. He finished the 2019 campaign with 40 tackles, including team-bests in both tackles for loss (6) and sacks (3).
