PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimmer Britta Schwengle and wrestler Shylik Scriven have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending in Feb. 5, 2023.
 
A native of Savaneta, Aruba, Schwengle picked up win in both the 500- and 1650-yard Freestyle on Saturday against King. The newcomer established a personal-best time in the 1650-yard Freestyle touching the wall in a time of 18:00.52, and registered a time of 5:20.20 in the 500-yard Freestyle. The freshman swam the opening leg of 200-yard Freestyle Relay that cruised to a first-place finish. Schewengle also captured a runner-up finish in the 100-yard Freestyle. 
 
A redshirt junior, Scriven picked up two victories on Saturday during the Tri-Meet against Emory & Henry and Mount Olive. The Fuquay-Varina native started the day with a forfeit and picked up a major decision win against Mount Olive. Scriven defeated Noah Williams 17-6 for his eighth consecutive victory this season. Scrieven is now 21-4 during the 2022-23 season.
