PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that volleyball's Savannah Whaley and football's Jo Hayes have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on October 6, 2024. 

A native of Farmville, Whaley started in all three games last week and posted a double-double in two of the three games. Whaley started the week with 15 kills and 11 digs at Barton, followed by a career-high 16 kills and 19 digs against Mount Olive. The freshman closed out the week with seven kills and 18 digs against Erskine. 

A product of Peanut City, Va., Hayes sparked the offense for the Braves on Saturday helping the team to its first win of the season. Hayes caught a trio of touchdown passes and had eight receptions for 183 yards. The graduate student also had three punt returns for a total of 18 yards.
