Basketball Teams Travel To Mount Olive On Wednesday

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will hit the road on Wednesday to face Mount Olive. The women's team will get the action started with a 5 p.m. start time at inside Kornegay Arena followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.

Wednesday will mark the 40th time the two teams have met. UNC Pembroke leads the all-time series 34-5 and have won the last six meetings. The Braves hold a 13-5 record when playing the Trojans inside Kornegay Arena and defeated UMO 70-52 on Dec. 7, 2024 in the last meeting in Mount Olive. 
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
  • UNC Pembroke rides a two-game win streak into Wednesday's conference contest following a 68-50 victory over Converse on Monday. The Braves outscored the Valkyries 25-12 in the fourth quarter and every player scored during the contest. 
  • The Black & Gold have shot better than 40 percent from the field in the last four games and are averaging 61.3 points per game. They limit opponents to 66.2 points per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor. 
  • The Braves have logged double-digit rebounds over their last two opponents and average 37.8 rebounds per game. 
  • Bre'Asia Washington has appeared in all 16 games and is shooting 46.2 percent from the floor and is averaging 9.8 points per outing. The junior has scored in double figures in the last four games and finished Monday's game with 13 points and six assists. 
Scouting Report: Mount Olive
  • Mount Olive is looking to snap a two-game skid following a 72-60 setback to Belmont Abbey on Monday. The Trojans were just 6-for-9 from the free throw line while the Crusaders went 14-for-20 from the charity stripe. 
  • UMO is averaging 63.6 points per contest while shooting 38.9 percent from the field. However, opponents are shooting 41.0 percent from the floor and average 69.7 points per game.
  • The Trojans average 19.8 turnovers per game and allow their opponents to score 18.3 points from those turnovers. Mount Olive forces their opponents into 19.7 turnovers a game and pick up 17.6 points from those turnovers.
  • Jada Priebe is coming off of a team-best 18 points highlighted by a 4-for-5 clip from the perimeter against Belmont Abbey. The senior is shooting 42.1 percent from the field and averages 9.5 points and 7.9 rebounds each game.

The Braves have also won the last seven meetings against the Trojans when playing in Mount Olive including a 105-66 victory on Dec. 7, 2024.

  • UNC Pembroke will look to extend its five game win streak following an 88-68 victory over Converse on Monday. The Braves shot 55.6 percent from the field and added 44 points from their bench.
  • UNCP has shot better than 48.0 percent from the floor in the last five games and shooting 47.9 percent from the field this season. The Braves average 79.1 points per game and are limiting opponents to 71.6 points per outing.
  • The Black & Gold average 38.2 rebounds per contest while their opponents tally just 28.8 boards per game. The Braves has posted 20 or more rebounds over their opponents in the last two games.
  • Demar Anderson finished Monday's game with 15 points and went 5-for-7 from the perimeter. The redshirt senior is shooting 43.3 percent from the three-point line and is averaging 8.9 points per game.

  • Mount Olive has won its last three games including a 64-61 victory over Belmont Abbey on Monday. the Trojans shot 47.2 percent from the field and scored 30 points from inside the paint. 
  • UMO is averaging 85.1 points per game and is shooting 45.8 percent from the floor. However, opponents are shooting 49.0 percent from the field and average 85.0 points per contest.
  • The Trojans post 36.7 rebounds per outing while opponent tally 35.6 boards per game. They limit their turnovers to just 11.6 per game. 
  • Matt Kirby scored 14 points against Belmont Abbey on a 6-for-8 shooting performance. The sophomore guard is shooting 44.7 percent from the field and averages 14.0 points per game.
