PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will trek to Franklin Springs, Ga., on Saturday to face Emmanuel in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader. The women's team will get the action started at 2 p.m. inside the Shaw Athletic Center followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

Saturday will mark the eighth time the two teams have met. UNC Pembroke leads the all-time series 5-2 and have won the last two contests. The Braves defeated the Lions 73-52 in the last contest on Feb. 1, 2025 in Pembroke, N.C.
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
UNC Pembroke had its four-game win streak snapped on Wednesday following a 64-53 setback to Francis Marion. The Patriots jumped out to an early 23-9 lead in the first quarter and shot 40.7 percent from the field while the Braves were limited to 37.9-percent shooting. The Black & Gold are averaging 61.9 points per game and are shooting 40.4 percent from the field. However, opponents average 65.4 points per contest while shooting 40.4 percent from the floor. UNCP averaged 12.0 free throws per game and 9.7 assists per contest. The Braves score 11.9 points from forcing their opponents into 12.2 turnovers each outing. Shaymiah Bailey is coming off of a 16 point showing against Francis Marion on Wednesday. The freshman is shooting 52.7 percent from the floor this season and is averaging 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Scouting Report: Emmanuel
Emmanuel has lost five out of its last six games including a 61-59 setback at Shorter on Wednesday. The Lions went on an 8-0 run to take a 59-57 lead with 1:07 remaining in the contest, but the Hawks made the final two baskets of the contest for the victory.  EU is averaging 64.6 points per game and is shooting 40.3 percent from the field. They limit opponents to 35.7-percent shooting and 60.5 points per game.  Emmanuel tallied 14.4 assists and 36.1 rebounds per game. The Lions log 17.9 turnovers each outing and allow their opponents to score 15.6 points from those turnovers.  Sophomore Natalie Goff turned in a double-double against Shorter with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds. Goff is shooting 39.3 percent from the field this season and averages 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

UNC Pembroke extended its win streak out to eight games on Wednesday following a 79-56 victory over Francis Marion. The Braves limited the Patriots to their lowest shooting percentage of the season and picked up 37 points from the bench.  UNCP is averaging 79.7 points per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the field. They are limiting opponents to 70.5 points per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor.  The Black & Gold rank seventh in the nation for free throws made per game with 19.6. The Braves tally 37.8 rebounds per game compared to their 29.0 boards from their opponents. Demar Anderson finished Wednesday's game with a career-high 18 points highlighted by a 4-for-6 clip from the perimeter. The redshirt senior is shooting 46.7 percent from the three-point line this season and is averaging 9.7 points per game.

Emmanuel rides a four-game win streak into Saturday's game following an 84-71 victory at Shorter on Wednesday. The Lions shot 50.9 percent from the field and scored 23 points from 16 Shorter turnovers.  EU averages 78.6 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. Opponents average 78.2 points per contest and are shooting 45.4 percent from the floor.  The Lions log 31.3 rebounds per game compared to 33.4 rebounds a game for their opponents. Emmanuel averages 15.2 assists per game as well. Devin Story leads Emmanuel averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. The senior finished Wednesday's game with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
