Skylar Moreno registered a personal-best time in the Women's 5K Run on the way to a fourth-place tally, while fellow freshman
Jarett Arabie tallied a personal-best time in the Men's 8K Run and finished 17
th, to highlight action for the UNC Pembroke cross country squads on Saturday morning at the Great American Cross Country Festival.
Moreno led the way for UNCP in the women's race for the third-straight event, this time covering the 5K course at the WakeMed Soccer Park in 19:36.6 and finishing ahead of six NCAA Division I student-athletes.
Riley Axe finished among the top 10 as well with a time of 20:18.3, while sophomore
Molly McCann was 13
th with a time of 20:46.3.
Sam Badami (21:18.1) and
Michaela Reynolds (21:54.2) crossed the finish line in 15
th and 16
th place, respectively, while
Shelby McMurray (22:26.6) was 18
th and
Brenna Sifford (24:42.2) crossed in 20
th place.
Arabie led the way for the Braves in the men's race, covering the 8K course with a personal best time of 27:22.0 on the way to a 17
th place finish.
Kellen Corson (28:34.9) and
Curtis Haynie (28:41.9) crossed the finish line seven seconds apart in 23
rd and 24
th place, respectively, while
Holden Newman was 25
th with a time of 28:48.0
Jose Castellanos (29:09.5) and
Adam White (34:40.1) both registered personal-best times as well, while also coming away with top-30 finishes.
The Braves will close out the regular season portion of their 2018 schedule on October 20 when they head to Milledgeville, Ga., for the Georgia College-hosted Bobcat Invitational.
