PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimming's Benedetta Pepe Pugliese and football's Colin Johnson have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on October 13, 2024. 

A native of Avellino, Italy, Pepe Pugliese won a trio of individual events at the King Invitational to help the UNC Pembroke swimming team to a first-place team finish. The sophomore also swam a leg on the 400-yard Medley Relay team that took top honors as well. 
 
A product of Lee County High School, Johnson became the first player in program history to throw for over 500 yards producing 514 passing yards during an explosive offensive outing on Saturday. The redshirt senior also three for seven touchdowns where he broke his own school record for most passing touchdowns in a single game.
