PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball team will host Young Harris for the Conference Carolinas opener on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. The women's team will get the doubleheader started with a 2 p.m. tipoff, followed by the men's game at 4 p.m. 
 
Fans unable to make the trip to Pembroke can follow the games for free via live statistics and a live video stream on the UNCP Sports Network with Alex Inbornone handling the play-by-play duties. Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased at UNCPBraves.com/Tickets.

Saturday will mark the 15th time the two teams have met with the series tied 7-7. Young Harris has won the last two contests, including a 75-67 overtime victory against UNC Pembroke in the Conference Carolinas Tournament on March 3. However, the Braves are 5-1 when playing the Mountain Lions at home and have won the last four meetings in Pembroke.
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
UNC Pembroke heads into Saturday's contest following a 70-58 setback at Fayetteville State on Wednesday. The Braves scored 34 points in the paint during Wednesday loss, but the Broncos made eight three-pointers and scored 15 second chance points. The Black & Gold are averaging 58.7 percent from the field and shooting 35.3 percent from the field. Opponents average 72.0 points each game and are shooting 40.8 percent from the floor.  UNCP is averaging 16.3 turnovers per game. The Braves for opponents into 13.3 turnovers each outing and score 14.0 points from those turnovers. Newcomer Shaymiah Bailey is fresh off of her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds at Fayetteville State. The freshman also dished out a pair of assists and had one steal in 27 minutes of work.

Young Harris enters Saturday's game following a 72-48 victory at Tusculum on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions shot 46.0 percent from the field and outscored the Pioneers 25-6 in the third quarter. YHC averages 61.7 points per game and is shooting 39.2 percent from the field. Opponents are being limited to 53.7 points per game and are shooting 31.2 percent from the floor.  Opponents score 15.7 points from 17.3 Young Harris turnovers per game. The Mountain Lions force opponents into 14.3 turnovers each contest. Annalise Malone logged a double-double against Tusculum on Wednesday with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The senior played 29 minutes and had two assists, one block and one steal.

UNC Pembroke heads into Saturday's contest following an 84-75 victory against Fayetteville State on Wednesday. The Braves shot 56.3 percent from the field and picked up 24 points in transition. UNCP is averaging 76.7 points per game and is shooting 45.3 percent from the floor. Opponents are also scoring 76.7 points per game, but are shooting 43.1 percent from the field.  The Black & Gold post 40.0 rebounds per contest while their opponents are being held to 32.7 boards per game. UNCP is also tallying 7.7 blocks per contest. Javonte Waverly is averaging 22.7 points per game and is shooting 51.0 percent from the field. The senior scored 23 points against Fayetteville State on Wednesday in 35 minutes.

Young Harris enters Saturday's game following an 85-51 setback at UVA Wise on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions were limited to just 18 points in the first half and shot 25.4 percent from the field during the game.  YHC averages 65.3 points per game and is shooting 43.2 percent from the field. However, opponents average 75.3 points per game and are shooting 44.4 percent from the floor.  The Mountain Lions log 14.0 turnovers per contest and force their opponents into 12.0 turnovers per game. Young Harris also averages 32.0 rebounds per game. Carl Cleveland leads Young Harris with 27.0 points per game and is shooting 60.0 percent from the field. The senior tallied his second double-double of the season on Wednesday with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
