PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimming's Fabiana Pesce and football's Jamiel Davis have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on September 28, 2025.

A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Pesce took top honors in the 50 and 100-yard Freestyle events on Saturday as UNCP defeated Campbell in the first home meet since Feb. 3, 2024. The sophomore broke the Sue Walsh Swimming Pool record in both events, and swam the anchor leg on the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team that won the event and also broke the facility record. 

Davis played key factor in helping the Braves to a 31-0 victory at No. 20 Valdosta State on Saturday. The Wilmington native registered three tackles, two of which were solo tackles. He also broke up one pass and intercepted a pass which he returned for a 45-yard touchdown. Davis and the Black & Gold held Valdosta State scoreless for the first time since 1991.
