Hoop Squads Host Chowan On Wednesday For Senior Night

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will host Chowan for the final regular season game of the year on Wednesday. The women's game will get the action started at 5 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7 p.m. at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. 

Fans unable to make the trip to Pembroke can follow the games for free via live statistics and a live video stream on the UNCP Sports Network with Alex Inbornone handling the play-by-play duties. Tickets for Wednesday's game can be purchased at UNCPBraves.com/Tickets. 

Both teams will honor their 2025-26 senior classes prior to the start of each game.

Wednesday will mark the 21st time that the two teams have met. UNC Pembroke leads the all-time series 13-7, but Chowan defeated UNCP 71-56 earlier this season on jan. 14 in Murfreesboro. However, the Braves have won the last three meetings with the Hawks when playing in Pembroke. 
Scouting Report: UNC Pembroke
  • UNC Pembroke is looking to snap its two game skid following a 64-63 setback at North Greenville on Monday. The Trailblazers picked up 29 points from their bench and scored 44 points in the paint, compared to UNCP's 32 points in the paint and just six points from the bench.
  • The Black & Gold average 62.5 points per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field. However, opponents are scoring 65.3 points per contest while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. 
  • The Braves average 11.3 free throws and 4.3 three pointers per contest, while their opponents tally 13.2 free throws and 3.7 triples per game.
  • UNC Pembroke will honor seniors Natalie Evington, Anastasia Sinclair and Tiana Spann prior to tipoff on Wednesday. 
Scouting Report: Chowan
  • Chowan rides a four-game win streak into Wednesday's contest following an 88-58 victory at Converse on Monday. The Hawks shot 48 percent from the floor while scoring 54 points from inside the paint and 31 points from their bench.  
  • The Hawks are averaging 66.3 points per game while shooting 39.7 percent from the field. They limit opponents to 59.8 points per contest while shooting just 36.8 percent from the floor. 
  • Chowan forces opponents into 19.0 turnovers a game and score 17.6 points from those turnovers. The Hawks also record 10.6 steals a game. 
  • Nyeisha Savage averages 11.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 54.0 percent from the field. The junior is coming off of a season-high 28 points at Converse.

  • UNC Pembroke rides a five-game win streak into Wednesday's matchup following a 72-59 victory at North Greenville on Wednesday. The Braves shot 41.4 percent from the field and scored 16 points from the nine NGU turnovers. 
  • The Black & Gold average 80.3 points per game and are shooting 48.7 percent from the field. Opponents are being held to 71.3 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor. 
  • UNCP continues to be a force on the glass averaged 38.4 rebounds per game and holding opponents to 28.4 boards each outing. The Braves have recorded 10 or more rebounds over three of their last four opponents. 
  • UNC Pembroke will honor its eight-member senior class, Nygell Verdier, Javonte Waverly, Demar Anderson, Joe'l Pettiford, Jonathan Kurtas, Moe Bangura, Peyton Mann, and Steven Lassiter, prior to the start of Wednesday's contest.

  • Chowan has won its last two games including an 81-73 victory at Converse on Monday. The Hawks shot 48.3 percent from the field and scored 37 points from its bench. 
  • Chowan averages 82.8 points per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the field. Opponents are limited to 78.1 points per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor.
  • The Hawks record 39.3 rebounds each outing while opponents are limited to 36.4 boards per game. Chowan has logged 10 or more rebounds over its last two opponents. 
  • Markell Hollis matched his career-high with 26 points at Converse on Monday going 10-for-14 from the field. The freshman averages 11.0 points per game and is shooting 54.8 percent from the field.
