PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimming's Britta Schwengle and men's basketball's Moe Bangura have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on February 22, 2026.

A native of Savaneta, Aruba, Schwengle dominated at the 2025-26 Conference Carolinas Championship winning every individual event that she competed in over the four day event. The senior broke the Conference Carolinas Meet record in the 1000-yard Freestyle event and swam the anchor leg of the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team that took top honors and broke the UNCP school record in the event. 

A product of Lorton, Va., Bangura averaged 13.3 points and 7.0 rebounds last week to help the Braves to a 3-0 week. The senior shot 55.5 percent from the field and added four steals, two blocks and one assist for the week. Bangura tallied his second double-double of the season on Saturday with 20 points and 11 rebounds at Shorter.
