PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that soccer's Anna Grossheim and football's Carlo Thompson have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on October 27, 2024. 

A product of Garner, Grossheim set a school record on Saturday with five goals against King on senior day. The graduate student has tallied 43 career goals and sits two goals behind Hall of Famer Melanie Cobb for most goals in a career. Grossheim ranks second in the league for shots and goals this season. 

A native of Virginia, Thompson had an all-around game on Saturday and helped the Braves to a homecoming victory. Thompson got things started early with an interception which he ran back for a 24-yard touchdown. Thompson finished the day with six tackles, four of which were on his own. He also forced a fumble, which he also recovered.
