PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that volleyball's McKenna Hayes and men's cross country's Kelvin Kibet have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on November 9, 2025.

A native of Chattanooga, Tenn., Hayes helped the Braves to a 3-0 week and scored a total of 43 points across the three games. The senior started the week with 11 kills and a team and career-high nine blocks at Francis Marion on Wednesday. Hayes closed out the week hitting .375 against Chowan to go along with five blocks, and 12 kills and four blocks against Ferrum on senior day. 

Kibet paced the Braves to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet. A native of Eldoret, Kenya, Kibet covered the 10K course in a time of 32:29.03 to finish in 18th place. The sophomore was the first Conference Carolinas runner to cross the finish line during the race.
