PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Zaria Clark and wrestling's Scott Joll have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on December 17, 2023. 
  
An everyday starter for the Black & Gold, Clark averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The Stanley native started the week with a 12-point performance on the road at King and also pulled down four rebounds. Clark closed out the week with a game-high 20 points against Young Harris highlighted by a 9-for-15 clip from the field. The junior tallied six rebounds, dished out four assists and had a pair of steals against the Mountain Lions as well. Clark played all but nine total minutes of last week's games. 

A native of Belle Vernon, Pa., Joll finished undefeated at the Midwest Classic claiming the 174 pound title. The graduate student recorded three pins during the weekend competition.  Joll becomes just the seventh wrestler in program history to capture an individual title at the prestigious tournament.
