PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Kalaya Hall and wrestling's Jake Piccirilli  have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on January 14, 2024. 
  
Hall had a standout week averaging 24.5 points in two road games. The everyday starter for the Black & Gold started the week with a career-best 39 at Chowan on a 12-for-15 shooting performance. Hall nearly recorded a double-double against Chowan with eight rebounds. The Beulaville native closed out the week with a 10-point seven rebound performance at Belmont Abbey. The 39 points marks the most points scored in a single game this season in Conference Carolinas. 
 
A native of Woodstock, Ga., Piccirilli went 3-0 on Saturday with a trio of pins in the UNCP Tri-Meet, The junior logged a first period pin against Coker and Davis & Elkins, and capped off the weekend with a second period pin over Allen. Piccirilli is currently ranked 4th in The Open Mat rankings for the 149-pound weight class.
