PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Kalaya Hall and men's basketball's JaJuan Carr have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on January 7, 2024. 
  
An everyday starter for the Black & Gold, Hall registered a game-high 17 points against Converse on Saturday and was 7-for-12 from the field. 13 of Hall's 17 points came in the third quarter on Saturday. The Beulaville native also tallied four assists and a pair of rebounds. Hall is averaging 14.5 points per game and playing 33.3 minutes per game. 
 
A native of Burgaw, Carr finished with a game-high 20 points on a 7-for-10 shooting performance against Converse on Saturday. Carr was also 4-for-6 from the perimeter and pulled down five rebounds, dished out four assists and had one steal. The everyday starter for the Braves, Carr is shooting 52.4 percent from the field this season and averaging 11.0 points per game.
