PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's indoor track & field's Katie-Marie Sherlock and men's indoor track & field's Cole Thomas have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on January 21, 2024. 
  
A native of London, United Kingdom, Sherlock took home seventh place in the 300-meter Run on Friday at the opening day of the Carolina Challenge. The newcomer's performance in the event broke the school record with a time of 40.87. Sherlock also placed 12th in the 200-meter Dash as well.  
 
Thomas captured the Pole Vault title on Saturday at the Carolina Open with a mark of 4.66m. The Tallahassee, Fla., native holds the best mark in Conference Carolinas this season. Saturday's performance also was an indoor personal best for Thomas.
