PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that swimming's Benedetta Pepe Pugliese and men's basketball's Elijah Cobb have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on February 25, 2024. 
  
Pepe Pugliese took top honors in the 200-yard Breaststroke and the 400-yard Individual Medley Relay at the Conference Carolinas Championships last weekend. A native of Avellino, Italy, Pepe Pugliese played a key role in helping the team take home the Conference Carolinas title for the first time in program history. The newcomer was named as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year following the conclusion of the meet. 
 
An everyday starter for the Black & Gold, Cobb started the week with an 18-point performance at Mount Olive following an 8-for-10 shooting performance. The redshirt junior pulled down eight rebounds, dished out six assists, while having three blocks and three steals on Wednesday as well. Cobb closed out the week with a team-best 10 rebounds at Converse will adding four points and four steals.
