PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that women's basketball's Kalaya Hall and men's basketball's Elijah Cobb have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on March 12, 2024. 

An everyday starter for the Black & Gold, Hall played a pivotal role in helped the women's basketball team bring home its second consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament title on Sunday. A native of Beulaville, Hall was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player for the second straight season. The senior started the tournament with 25 points, four steals, two assists and two rebounds against Barton, while posting 25 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists in the championship against Belmont Abbey. 

A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Cobb also played a vital role in helping the men's basketball team claim its first Conference Carolinas Tournament title on Sunday. Cobb was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player following the conclusion of the tournament. The redshirt junior logged eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in an overtime semifinals victory against Barton, and closed out the championship with a 22 point, six rebound, three assist and one block performance in overtime against Emmanuel in the championship game. Cobb registered key defense stops for the team all weekend.
