PEMBROKE – Athletics department officials from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke announced on Monday morning that softball's Summer Bullard and baseball's Branton Jernigan have been named the Scotland Health Care System Braves of the Week for the week ending on March 8, 2026.

A native of Pembroke, Bullard picked up three wins in the circle for the Black & Gold throwing three complete games. The senior started the week picking up a win at Francis Marion where she struck out five batters. She closed out the week fanning 11 batters in eight innings against Chowan, followed by striking out eight against Mount Olive. 

A product of Wilmington, Jernigan went 8-for-20 on the week driving in 12 runs. The senior also finished the week with a double and four homeruns. Jernigan's week was highlighted by a 3-for-6 showing against Belmont Abbey in the final game of the series where he drove in four runs. Jernigan hit a home run in all by one game over the week.
